Nas new album ‘Hip Hop is Dead’ is set to hit the stores
After Jay-Z’s recent Kingdom Come release Nas’s new album ‘Hip Hop is Dead’ is set to hit the stores. Although Jay-Z’s album started out with 600,000 sales in the first week it has been a failure critically.
Nas’s album is projected to start out at 300,000 units in the first week.
Jay-Z formerly the arch nemesis of Nas features on the new album after the two decided two bury the beef when Nas signed with Def Jam.
“Life is so far from the small beefs we’re used to,” says Nas, explaining his truce with Jay. “If I’m just dissin’ n-s on some ground level, up in the skyscrapers there’s [bigger] beefs about whether FEMA is taking care of Katrina. Or if the NAACP really does help out the community.”
One such beef was over Nas’s Ex Carmen Bryan (who just got hit with a plagiarism suit over her tell all book which includes her affairs with Jay-Z and Nas)
Now both dudes are practically married.
Still repping himself as always Nas says:
“Rap needs to be shaken up. I believe there’s gonna be a new breed of emcees that will be better than me, better than anything. But right now they have so much to learn from those that came before. They don’t realize that rap is a royal thing, not just a hustle.”
Well its all about how hip hop got packaged and sold by the execs. Since sales have been down the solution has been more sex, more drugs, more violence, more Cristal, more SUVs on bigger rims - bigger bling, bigger booty on women with even less clothing.
And the reality T.V. shows - black folks get their old car fixed up while white folks get a whole new house in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
And so Nas talks making some real investments and leaving the gangsta bling behind in “Not Going Back”.
